Bloody Tears is a Peruvian heirloom variety. There are several varieties in the Andes with this general appearance that have names that are variations on “tears of blood” (yawar waqaq) and since the original name of this one is unknown, I’m sticking with tradition.
The tubers are of medium length, yellow with red markings around the eyes and yellow flesh. Good yields from this one and it appears to be fairly resistant to cracking in wet soil. Fall flowering.
