Blue Velvet, an ornamental potato

Over the years, I have occasionally selected potatoes purely for their beauty as flowers. This is one of those. This came from Tom Wagner's Blue Rose, self pollinated for several generations. The flowers are beautiful, abundant, and continue for about six weeks. The tubers are nothing to write home about - starchy, medium sized, relatively low yielding, and borne on long stolons. But you could plant this in an area and it will quickly spread to cover. It is very nearly male sterile, but that can be an asset in an ornamental, as the flowers last longer that way.
