Clearwater was collected in Maine in 1988.
Culinary Traits
This variety has a mild, more neutral flavor than most varieties in my opinion. Tubers are medium-sized, mostly smooth, often with bands of white and tan. This is a good all-around variety that is easy to clean and prepare.
Agronomic Traits
Clearwater is a medium size variety, reaching 7 to 8 feet tall here and probably taller in warmer climates. The stolons range about 4 to 12 inches long, mostly on the shorter side, but with just enough long ones to make it a spreader if you aren’t careful. It flowers moderately but briefly and sets seed with a pollinator.
