Wild Potato, Solanum albicans, 100 seeds

Solanum albicans is a wild potato species from Peru, thought to be a hybrid of Solanum acaule and S. sogarandinum.  It is very similar to S. acaule in being very frost resistant.  Unlike S. acaule, it is hexaploid and 4EBN, so it can be crossed directly with domesticated tetraploid potatoes, producing pentaploid progeny.  Stolons are pretty manageable with this species, reaching about a foot long.  Although tubers are often bitter, indicating high glycoalkaloid content, I have found plenty of plants of this species that have palatable tubers.  For more information, click on the information and growing instructions link above.
