Solanum schenckii is an hexaploid wild potato from central Mexico.  I have found it to be a large and vigorous plant compared to most North American wild potatoes.  It can be crossed directly with tetraploid domesticated potatoes, producing small amounts of hybrid pentaploid seed.  Some of the tubers are only slightly bitter, so it should be possible to select palatable varieties.  For more information, click on the information and growing instructions link above.
